DVD’s… BYE BYE!!!!!

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

YES! I’m so excited to share this!  And ya you read that right.  See ya later DVD’s!  I am no longer offering DVD’s of your images.  I know some of my brides right now are like, wait what?! But you said!!  Don’t you worry! I have something MUCH better for ya :)

I’ve never really like the idea of DVD’s.  I feel like movies, cd’s, games, they all go missing ALL the time.  Or they get scratched and they’re ruined.  Every time I deliver a DVD to a client in my mind I think, “Man I hope they don’t lose it or scratch it”  I do keep wedding images for a while but not forever and I would hate the thought that some day down the road that disc would not work and they would only be able to access their tiny images they posted to facebook.  And Facebook just ruins photos and resizes them and they’d never be able to print them.  That might just sound crazy, I don’t know.  But I have a fun new solution!

The rad crew at Showit (the awesome folks who host my website and make my life somewhat easier) have build this awesome software that I can upload your images to and “pass” them to you to view, download, pick your favorites, post to facebook, etc. And even better your images are hosted with the cloud technology for a year for you to view. You can access your images on ANY device that you can get the internet. So you’re chillin in the airport talking with some great people on your way home from your honeymoon about how awesome your wedding was and all ya gotta do is pull out your phone, or ipod, or ipad and without having to save them to that device you can pull them up and share.  Now you can download them and save them to any device that you have so no worries there. And when you share the images on Facebook your friends and fam can see them at full-resolution rather than Facebooks terrible way of resizing them and ruining the quality of the image.  IT’S SO AWESOME!

Okay you may not have even caught all of that as I rambled off in excitement.  I promise you it’s killer and it’s so easy! A few weeks ago I did Christina & Shawn’s engagement photos and used them as my “guinea pigs” for PASS.  Well they loved and said it was so easy to access their images and download and that couldn’t make me any happier!  So for them I put together real quick this +site to share with their friends and fam to see all of their images :) Check it out!!! You can view the images full screen, pick your favs, share them to facebook, download them. Who needs DVD’s?

CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT A PASS SITE :)

And no blog post is complete without a photo so I’ll give you a little sneak-a-peek at the next post….. CALIFOOOORRRNNNIIIAAAAAAAAAAAA

TGIF!! And upcoming special!

Friday, June 17th, 2011

It’s Friday, awesome people!!! I’m so excited. I wish this weather was more awesome and that it would start to look like summer. I’m beginning to get really tired of this gloominess! I have an engagement session tomorrow and I am STOKED! Can’t wait. Sooo……

Next Thursday is my 25th birthday! I have been afraid of 25 for years! I don’t know. Just have. Before I started this photography business I was just a stay at home mom. 25 was scary. I was married, had a child, didn’t finish my degree I kind of felt like I was turning 25 (supposed to be an adult at this age or something) and hadn’t accomplished anything. This year I am so excited for my birthday!!! Last year I started my own business and I’ve realized that yup at 25 I’m still allowed to be a child at heart so bring it on! And because it’s my birthday next week, I’m gonna run a special for you!

Starting on my birthday, Thursday, June 23rd, and ending on Sunday, June 26th all of my prices are 25% off! Ya, even wedding packages. So book whatever kind of session or event you want during those 4 days (book, not take place) and you get 25% off.

Portrait sessions will start at $135!
Senior sessions will start at $150!
Wedding Collections will start at $1312.50!

I may have lost my mind. Not sure. Don’t care. It’s MY birthday and I can do what I want. Right?!

Next week I’ll be back on track with blogging :) Including our California trip :)

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Las Vegas Desert Shoot!

Saturday, February 26th, 2011

Lots happened while in Vegas.  Man, I have lists of things I’d like to accomplish and no time to do them all! Wish I had 36+ hours in a day!  We flew into Vegas late on Friday night.  Then met up with a friend to go check out the lights.  This was my very first time to Las Vegas!! Well it was raining… I know… in the desert!  So we just grabbed some snacks and when back to our room.  Saturday Joe’s 2 sisters drove over from Southern California.  I accidentally forgot my TOMS at home.  I promise this was on accident.  So I didn’t have any shoes to wear for the 2 shoots we had going on while we were there. So Joe and I walked to the north end of the strip to the mall so I could get some new TOMS.  Bought some silver glittery ones and they are SO cute!  Then we had the best sushi I’ve ever had and then speed-walked back down to the MGM to grab our gear and meetup for our first shoot!  I thought we were going to be late but we made it with 4 minutes to spare :)

This shoot ROCKED!!!  I can’t thank Gavin & Erin enough!  This shoot wasn’t a learning workshop.  Really it was a great time for 30 awesome photographers to meet up at this dry lake bed grab a couple models and go to town!  We had SO much fun!  There were 3 models, a couple and a fashion model and they are drop-dead-gorgeous!  So because I couldn’t narrow down to my fav photos there are a TON!!! So I’ll stop talking/typing (whatever ya wanna call it)!  First I have to give a shoutout to those that made it happen!

*WARNING* Not kidding when I said I couldn’t choose! There are many many photos… maybe too many :)

This might be one of my favs!

Now for the gorgeous Fashion model!

At the end of the day I heard Erin say “Ya know… I’m not diggin this too much I think I’m gonna switch to black & white.”  I was like heck, ya that’s what I’m doin!  As if it was my own idea.  But truth be told…. I’d never shot black & white in-camera before!  Now…. I’m not sure why?!  The images are awesome! So thank you to Gavin & Erin for putting together such a fun event but for also pushing me out of my comfort zone to find something I really love!

Whew! Whoa, hope you made it through all of those! If ya did well, then I love ya!

Big Sky Photo Summit – Mike Colon

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Woohoo!  I’m excited about this post!  This week I’ve already chatted about Tamara Lackey and Dane Sanders.  Don’t forget I’m giving away a signed copy of Dane’s 2 books, check it out!  Today it’s Mike Colon, my friends.  Mike is the kinda guy you just want to be friends with.  He’s really chill, right now he’s REALLY chill with a broken leg.

Mike did this talk for us that he’s never done before on FEAR!  How we can let fear stand in our way of something that could be really amazing!  How many times has something come up in your business that you needed to tackle but were too afraid of what COULD happen?  He kept saying “Fear is a downward spiral, it will take over.”  If you let fear stand in the way of one thing, it’ll stand in the way of another, in your personal life, and your business.  I realized that I have let fear stand in the way.  I tell myself something can’t happen because it just won’t work… but really I don’t know until I do it.  I was just too afraid to do it.   I used to be someone that took risks and lived life to the fullest and I let the downward spiral of fear take over.  Today, 9 days after meeting Mike, Dane & Tamara, I’m alot happier.  Not just because of Mike.  But, one of the biggest differences now is I’m willing to take a risk, or what someone might think is a mistake, but do it intentionally.   There are many in our industry that we all look up to, admire, and so forth.  I guarantee that they didn’t become that successful without taking risks.  Those that take big risks are the ones that stand out from the crowd and succeed.  There is one line from his talk that hit home.

FEARS ARE THE LIES THAT WE TELL OURSELVES!

Think about it!  Fears stop us from so many things.  Yes we may fail and fall on our faces but it may be a HUGE success or in some aspects the result may be a fail and other aspects a success.  But, we don’t know unless we attack our fear and go for it!

Mike has taken some pretty big risks in his career but look where he is today!  God bless his wife, Julie!  Sidenote- Julie is amazing… he’s a pretty lucky dude!

I had an awesome opportunity to photograph a gorgeous model with Mike.  This was my favorite shoot.  There are a couple reasons why.  First, this is what I LOVE wedding/bridal, I love it!  Second, when we first arrived at Big Sky we were going to have to choose between a shoot with Tamara, Dane, or Mike.  Holy hard-ness! But that first day Mike wasn’t going to do his shoot so we only had to choose between Tamara and Dane, although Tamara is a genius and suggested we split the time in half and would do 45min each.  Now don’t get me wrong.  I love LOVE!  So I also really enjoy engagement sessions.  But we decided to go do the engagement session over at Moonlight next to Big Sky.   So we chatted, then had to get to vehicles, then get to location then gather, chat, etc.  We only had about 10-15 minutes of real shooting.  It was still a great shoot.  But with Mike I again was able to photograph what I LOVE but I had just over an hour of shooting!  Unfortunately I was SO excited about photographing the model I spaced taking a photo of Mike shooting.  It was SO cold out your body just went numb and I should have taken a picture of him gimpin’ around outside with his camera.  Sadly, he couldn’t feel anything it was so cold he was pretty sore when we came in and he started to warm up!  Mike is an awesome guy, can’t wait to see him in Vegas! Hopefully skateboarding and not so much gimpin’ around :)   I mean it with love! Onto the photos! There are quite a few I couldn’t decided!

Mandy & Bret – Wedding – Hamilton, MT

Friday, December 3rd, 2010

Last Saturday Mandy and Bret had a beautiful wedding.  This was one of those weddings that I was happy I had a camera in front of my face.  To hide my tears, of course!  These two met when they were 13 years old, back when they both had braces.  Who knew that over a decade later they would tie the knot.  I love the opportunity to photograph a couple so in love, and not afraid to show it.  Even going back through these photos I had to hold back the tears.

Mandy & Bret, I adore you two!  I adore the love you have for one another. You were definitely made for one another.  I wish you many years of happiness and laughter!

Need more, more, more? Well then check out their SLIDESHOW!!!

Matt & Desiree – Wedding – Frenchtown, Montana

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph Matt & Des’ small, casual wedding at Des’ parents house out in Frenchtown.  My sister-in-law has been friends with Desiree for a while now, so she came along to help me.  It was a fun little wedding full of laughter and dancing.  Yep, dancing.  When we first met with Matt & Des to talk about the wedding Matt was set against dancing. Nothing, zip, nada! Not even a first dance for them.  Slowly he came around to it and even the week before the wedding he assured us no one from his family would be dancing.  Well, Matt danced quite a bit, his sister danced with him, and his parents… they know how to get down!

I’m not very good at the sneak peek one picture, thing.  I don’t know, its just so hard to do it!  So instead of one I’ll give you 6 :) Enjoy!
